Health Within Vegan Nutritional Yeast Savoury Flakes
Nutritional yeast, also known as savoury nutritional flakes are loaded with nutrition and flavour. They are high in B Vitamins, zinc and other trace minerals, and one of the rare vegan sources of Vitamin B12, a complete bioavailable source of protein and a natural fibre source.
What is Nutritional Yeast/Savoury Flakes? Made from a single-celled organism fungi called Saccharomyces Cerevisiae grown on GMO free molasses. They are harvested, washed and dried with heat to ‘deactivate’ them and then rolled to form flakes.
Good to know: Savoury Nutritional Flakes or ‘yeast flakes’ is not the same thing as traditional baking yeast. Nutritional Yeast/Savoury Flakes contain no alcohol and won’t cause or exacerbate candida or leaven baked goods.
How to use it?
Savoury Nutritional Flakes are often used as a vegan substitute to cheese, due to there rich savoury flavour. Sprinkle on popcorn, stir into mashed potatoes, use anywhere in place of Parmesan cheese, add a tablespoon or 2 to your dishes to add a cheesy flavour without the dairy with the added boost to your B12 consumption.
